Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews Booted from Political Desk at MSNBC after Last Place Finish in Ratings

Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews have been dropped from MSNBC’s political desk after the two led a dismal performance during the Democratic and Republican Conventions in which the network finished dead last in the Nielsen rankings.

Both Olbermann and Matthews have been criticized for their inability to present an objective picture of the election, clearly siding with the Democrats and often taking sharp jabs at Republicans.

MSNBC appeared to take advantage of their low numbers to replace the pair with David Gregory who will now handle the vice-presidential and presidential debates as well as election night.

The Olbermann and Matthews tandem brought in 2.5 million viewers on each of the last two nigts of the convention while FOX News Channel topped the networks with 9.2 million viewers.
