British Couple Accused of Having Sex on a Beach in Dubai Facing Verdict on Tuesday

A British couple accused of having sex on a Dubai beach will find out their fate on Tuesday when a judge delivers the verdict in the highly publicized case.

British nationals Vince Acors, 34, and Michelle Palmer, 36, were arrested on July 5 after a policeman spotted the pair having sex on a beach. According to United Arab Emirates law the two violated a number of statutes, among them sex before marriage, public indecency and consumption of alcohol.

Both Acors and Palmer have denied they were engaged in sex, saying they had simply been kissing when the officer arrested them.

If the pair is convicted they could spend time behind bars before being deported.
