Giants Take 3-1 Lead Against Phillies

The San Francisco Giants beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-5 by taking advantage of their home field Wednesday night.

The Phillies, who were once the top-favorite for the World Series, are now facing elimination as the Giants have smashed their hopes with consecutive victories. Catcher Buster Posey again came to his team's rescue and ensured that they advance to the victory stand. The Giants are now 3-1 in the best of seven Major League Championship Series.

Bosey had a total of four hits in the game along with two runs and managed to tag out the Phillies’ Carlos Ruiz at the plate by capitalizing on a deft throw from center field.

The Giants were trailing 4-2 until the sixth inning and it appeared that the Phillies were able to regain their strength in the game. They had scored four runs in the fifth thus practically tilting the game in their favor. Pablo Sandoval of the Giants, however, managed a two-run double in the sixth to get his team a 5-4 advantage.

The Phillies returned the favor in the eight when two back-to-back doubles by Ryan Howard and Jayson Werth leveled the game at 5-5. Juan Uribe helped teammate Aubrey Huff to score the game-winning run in the ninth when he made a single to right field after overcoming an aggressive Roy Oswalt and made a sacrifice fly that Huff was quick to capitalize on.

The Phillies won the World Series in 2008 and advanced to the coveted championship again in 2009 but failed to earn a victory.
