US Stock Movers in Opening Session

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (NYSE:FCX) added 2.33% to $97.57. The company said third-quarter profit climbed 27% to $1.18 billion, or $2.49 a share, with revenue rising to $5.15 billion from $4.14 billion.

Analysts polled by FactSet had expected earnings of $2.08 a share on revenue of $4.59 billion from the Phoenix, Ariz.-based mining firm.

Over the past 52-week, the stock traded within the range of $56.71-$100.34. At current market price, the market capitalization of the company stands at $45.90 billion.

Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD) went up 1.07% to $83.99. The company reported net profit for the fourth quarter of $272.1 million, or $1.25 a share, against $243.9 million, or $1.13 a share.

A survey of analysts at FactSet Research was expecting the company to earn $1.32 a share on sales of $2.34 billion.

The company guided for fiscal year 2011 in the range of $5.50 to $5.70 per share, and for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 ending December 31, 2010, it expects EPS between $1.31 and $1.35 a share.

Over the past 52-week, the stock traded within the range of $64.13-$85.44. The stock went up more than 2% year-to-date.

Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ:XLNX) lost 2.35% and currently trading at $25.40. Yesterday, the company said that its fiscal second-quarter profit jumped to $170.9 million or 65 cents a share, from $64 million, or 23 cents a share, in the comparable quarter last year. Revenue surged 49% to $619.7 million from $414.95 million.

Analysts, on average, expected the company to report earnings of 65 cents per share on revenue of $626.32 million.

The 52-week range of the stock is $21.01-$29.40.
