China Arnold, Mother who Burned Daughter to Death in Microwave, Handed Life Sentence

China Arnold, the 28-year-old mother who was found guilty of burning her daughter to death in a microwave, was spared the death penalty and will now face life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Arnold was convicted last month of aggravated murder after her month-old daughter, Paris Talley, died from burns sustained in a microwave. Prosecutors argued that Arnold intentionally killed her daughter after getting in a fight with her boyfriend over the paternity of the girl.

Common Pleas Judge Mary Wiseman rejected a minimum sentence of life in prison with an opportunity for parole in 25 years.
