Insurance Stocks Ended Mixed

Ambac Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE:ABK) added 5.10% to $1.03. Earlier this month, the company agreed to withdraw over $6 billion in claims against bankrupted Lehman Brothers Holdings in a proposed settlement of disputes between the two firms over derivatives transactions.

The stock has a 52-week range of $0.40-$3.39. The stock went up more than 24% year-to-date.

The PMI Group, Inc. (NYSE:PMI) jumped 0.23% to $4.35 on about 6.94 million shares. The company will host a conference call to review third quarter 2010 financial results on Thursday, October 28, 2010.

The stock opened at $4.43 and traded within the range of $4.26-$4.48. In the past one month of trading sessions, the stock went up more than 20%.

Radian Group Inc. (NYSE:RDN) dropped 1.64% to $8.97. Radian Group Inc. is a credit enhancement company. The Company operates in three business segments: mortgage insurance, financial guaranty and financial services.

At today`s closing market price, the market capitalization of the company stands at $744.38 million.

MBIA Inc. (NYSE:MBI) closed 2.33% lower at $12.55 on unusual volumes. The stock created its fresh 52-week high of $13.17. Over the past five trading sessions, the stock went up more than 16%.
