Lakers Submerge Warriors 120-99

The Los Angeles Lakers hammered the Golden State Warriors with a 120-99 win on Thursday night.

The Lakers entered the exhibition game without their Coach Phil Jackson but still managed a victory under the supervision of assistant coach Brian Shaw, his first time as a head coach in an NBA game.

Kobe Bryant could be seen in uniform but off the court as he opted to rest because he is still recovering from a surgery on his left knee. Sasha Vujacic was back in action and scored nine points after suffering a concussion last week that cost him three games. He also announced his engagement to Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova just before the start of the game.

Steve Blake performed better as he finished with 18 points and six assists with Lamar Odom coming second with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Shannon Brown finished with 13 points, five assists and three steals with Luke Walton scoring five points in 11 minutes in his first game of the season before being sidelined by a strained hamstring.

The Lakers took an 11-0 lead and were leading with 55-52 at the half, with Pau Gasol at the top with 13 points; he added 10 more points at the finish. The Lakers took an 86-76 lead after three quarters and proceeded to a 28-8 run over the first 8 minutes of the fourth.

Stephen Curry was the top scoring player of the Warriors and finished with 19 points with David Lee trailing with 17 points. Both teams stand at 3-4 in the preseason.
