President Barack Obama will be in San Francisco on Friday, in the midst of a four-day, five-state tour bent on boosting the campaigns of flagging Democratic candidates around the nation.
While in California, Obama will attend a fundraising lunch at the University of Southern California for Senator Barbara Boxer and gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown, before speaking at a USC park for a rally of the Democratic National Committee.
Boxer has gained a slight lead against Republican and tea party favorite Carly Fiorina, as has Brown against his candidate Meg Whitman, in what has proven to be a particularly nasty campaign. Both races in California have been volatile, and National Democrats are keeping a close watch on them.
The president heads out to Nevada Friday evening, for a DNC rally in Las Vegas for Democrat candidate Harry Reid. Reid is heading a tight race with the Tea Party darling Sharron Angle, who he has been trying to paint as an extremist in the right, but he remains in the mid-40’s in the polls.
Saturday sees the president in Minnesota for a rally in
support of Democrat candidate Mark Dayton, who is a former senator, but is
running for governor this election. Obama will also head a fundraising luncheon
for Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee before turning homeward and
heading back to the White House on Saturday evening.
While Obama is making an impact in the west of the nation this week, it has been revealed that he turn his attention northeast and Midwest in the final week before the mid-terms on November 2.
