The Canadian Military Commander, David Russell Williams, who once commanded one of Canada’s most important military bases, was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences. He had been charged with the murder of two women, sexual assault and a string of fetish related break ins. Justice Robert Scott described him as a sick and depraved soul.
He gave a tear ridden apology in court for all the “despicable crimes” he had committed. He claimed that he had pleaded guilty to spare the families of the dead victims further suffering.
The prosecutors had presented as evidence several snaps and videos Col. Williams had collected as trophies. They showed the colonel posing in stolen undergarments of women in graphic detail. He had taken these during the break ins. He is also proven to be a pedophile who stole panties from little girls’ drawers.
He showed meticulous care in saving and cataloging the details of each of his transgressions. The videos shown by the prosecutors included the dying cries of 27-year-old Jessica Lloyd and 37-year-old France Comeau. The evidence produced in court against Col. Williams left the victims’ families disgusted and deeply disturbed.
Col. Williams’s double life has deeply shocked all the people he used to interact with on a daily basis. His wife, Mary-Elizabeth Harriman, could not believe how she could have not known anything was wrong. On duty, he used to often fly around the visiting leaders of different nations on their visit to Canada. The military has started the procedure which will strip him of his rank and medals. His neighbors describe him as a very mild person who used to make sure his lawn mower does not kill frogs hiding in the grass. This seems like a classic case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to them.
