Crocodile Causes Plane Crash, 19 Killed

A crocodile hidden in a carry-on bag onboard a flight in the Democratic Republic of Congo caused the plane to crash, killing 19 passengers and crew. One passenger and the crocodile survived the crash.

According to reports on Friday, the crocodile escaped from the sports bag during a flight from Kinshasa to Bandundu on August 25. The lone survivor of the crash told authorities terrified passengers ran to the front of the aircraft, which threw it off balance. The pilot was unable to regain control of the Let 410 Turbolet plane, and it crashed into an empty house. The crocodile was found alive in the wreckage. Rescuers killed it with a machete.
