Baidu.com, Inc. (ADR) (NASDAQ:BIDU) soared
5.99% to $108.62 on about 4.63 million shares. Baidu’s third-quarter profit
more than doubled to 1.05 billion yuan ($156.4 million), or 45 cents per
American depositary share, from a year ago.
Revenue
increased 76% to 2.26 billion yuan, or $337.2 million from a year ago. Analysts
surveyed by FactSet Research estimated 43 cents an ADS on revenue of $318.9
million.
For
the fourth quarter, Baidu forecast $354.2 million to $364.7 million in revenue,
compared with Wall Street’s current projection for sales of $339.6 million.
Over
the past 52-week, the stock had traded within the range of $35.30-$108.88. The
stock went up more than 161% year-to-date.
Leggett
& Platt, Inc. (NYSE:LEG) plunged 8.70% to $20.99 on
about 2.63 million shares. Third-quarter profit attributable to Leggett &
Platt fell to $47.4 million, or 31 cents a share, from $54.3 million, or 34
cents a share, in the year-ago period. Revenue rose to $866.5 million from
$809.9 million last year. Analysts expected 37 cents a share on revenue of
$888.4 million.
The company also forecast full-year earnings of $1.10 to
$1.20 a share on revenue of $3.3 billion to $3.35 billion. Analysts currently
expect $1.28 a share on revenue of $3.4 billion.
The stock opened at $21.18 and traded within the range of
$20.85-$23.35. In the past one month of trading sessions, the stock went down
more than 4%.
SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK)
went up 2.60% to $38.08 o. Profit at SanDisk rose to $322.1 million, or $1.34 a
share, compared with $231.3 million, or 99 cents a share, in the year-ago
period.
The
company posted third-quarter adjusted earnings of $1.30 a share, above the
$1.05 a share that Wall Street had expected. Revenue was $1.23 billion, up from
$935.2 million. Analysts were looking for revenue of $1.23 billion.
The 52-week range of the stock is $19.18-$50.55.
