Drug Warning Labels Affected By Public Outcry

Drug Addiction And Drug Abuse Hazards

The public’s voices of concern over the side effects of drugs do make a difference.

Narconon Drug Rehab in Georgia reports that criticism from the public and physicians about the lack of warning regarding safety issues of certain drugs has apparently prompted the agency to issue a quarterly report about drugs that do present risks.

The report can be found on the FDA website at fda.gov.

Mary Rieser, Executive Director for Narconon Drug Rehab in Georgia, states: “Included on the list for the first quarter is OxyContin, with its potential for ‘drug misuse, abuse and overdose.’

“There is probably not enough that can be said about this drug and its potential for abuse, given the number of overdoses and persons who have arrived to jail or treatment because they happened across this drug in their quest for some kind of relief.

“This report is a start.  However, with rampant abuse of prescription medications we need to stay alert, keep the pressure on and continue to educate the public.  As long as teenagers still have the ability to buy Xanax online and dealers are selling Oxycontin for up to a hundred dollars a pill, we still have a problem without a real solution.”

Narconon Drug Rehab in GA offers free drug education seminars to church groups, children’s groups, and community centers. “If churches, children’s groups, parents and teachers work together to educate their children and friends on the dangers of prescription drug abuse, we may have a chance,” comments Ms. Rieser.
