Hurricane Ike has postponed the Texas vs. Arkansas college football game, which was scheduled on Saturday.
Hurricane Ike is expected to cause severe damage along the Gulf of Mexico this weekend as its projected path has it hitting Texas in a few days. The hurricane is currently a Category 2, according to the National Hurricane Center's Saffir-Simpson scale.
The #8 Longhorns will now take on the Razorbacks on Sept. 27. The time of kickoff will be announced at a later date. Both teams have open dates that weekend.
Although Texas and Arkansas have Sept. 27 open, accomodations in Austin will be scarce that weekend due to the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Hotel rooms have been booked in central Texas for months for the festival and the Razorbacks team, let alone the fans, may not be able to find a room.
The Texas-Arkansas game is not the only college football game that will be affected by Hurricane Ike. The Stanford-TCU game has also been moved up. The game will be played at 1 p.m. ET in Forth Worth.
Air Force's game against Houston has been moved to Gerald J. Ford Stadium at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. ET.
