Kanye West was arrested Thursday morning at Los Angeles (LAX) International Airport, according to Access Hollywood.
West, the Grammy-Award winning rapper, was arrested at 7:51 a.m. PST on charges of battery and vandalism. He is still in custody at the airport.
LAX police have not confirmed the official reason for the arrest, but according to TMZ, the incident involved paparazzi.
According to TMZ, a photographer was attempting to photograph West at the American Airlines terminal at LAX, when West allegedly confronted the photographer, grabbing his camera smashing it to the ground.
One of TMZ.com's paparazzi began videotaping the scene when an assistant of the rapper grabbed the camera. A struggle reportedly began between the assistant and the TMZ photographer, which caused the second camera to be smashed onto the ground.
West rushed the TMZ photographer and demanded the videotape after he realized the incident had been recorded.
According to TMZ, West and his assistant may face felony battery and vandalism charges due to the incident.
West is currently gearing up for the release of his fourth solo album titled 808's & Heartbreak. The album is slated to hit stores on December 16.
This past weekend, Kanye performed his new song "Love Lockdown" at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles as he closed the 2008 VMAs. West said in an MTV interview that the new song is his "favorite song to date".
