NFL Week 2 Schedule and Odds: Jets Favored Over Patriots, Steelers Given Nod Over Browns on the Road

Week 1 of the NFL season is in the books and with season ending injuries to Tom Brady and Shawne Merriman, and an injury to Marques Colston that will keep him out for at least six weeks the New England Patriots, San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints, all teams expected to produce big this year, are facing difficult days ahead.

While the Patriots and Saints earned opening wins the Chargers are already behind the eight-ball having dropped a home game to the Carolina Panthers last weekend.

With the second week of the season right around the corner it won’t be long before we’ll be able to see if Brett Favre and the jets are for real, if Matt Ryan and the running back corps in Atlanta can keep the Falcons offense flying, if Donovan McNabb’s return to health will keep the Philadelphia Eagles soaring, and if Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts can bounce back from a disappointing thumping by the Chicago Bears in their season opener.

NFL Week 2 Schedule

The Kansas City Chiefs (0-1) didn’t look good in their loss to the Patriots on Sunday but they’ll be 3.5-point favorites when they take on an Oakland Raiders (0-1) club that looked worse in the beat-down they were handed by the Broncos on Monday night.

Despite displaying the most disappointing offensive output one week ago, the Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) head into Week 2 as a 1-point favorite in their game against the Tennessee Titans (1-0) who opened their season with a win over Jacksonville.

Peyton Manning is still trying to get back on track after a disappointing first game yet the Indianapolis Colts (0-1) are still seen as a 1-point favorite on the road against the Minnesota Vikings (0-1) who fell to the Packers on Monday.

Drew Brees led the New Orleans Saints (1-0) past the Buccaneers last Sunday but he’ll be without Marques Colston for awhile yet they are still 1-point favorites on the road over the Washington Redskins (0-1) who looked awful against the Giants.

Aaron Rodgers got his first game under his belt and after taking the Green Bay Packers (1-0) to an exciting win over the Vikings on Monday night his squad will be a 3-point road favorite over the Detroit Lions (0-1) who lost badly to the Falcons last Sunday.

After a surprise road win over the Chargers the Carolina Panthers (1-0) return home as a 3-point favorite over the Chicago Bears (1-0) who bullied the Colts on the road last week.

Eli Manning and Brandon Jones will look to keep the New York Giants (1-0) rolling after they beat up the Redskins in their season opener and while they’ll be on the road they’re still 9-point favorites over the St Louis Rams (0-1) who were embarrassing in their loss to the Eagles.

The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) lost a disappointing game to the Titans last week but they’ve been labeled a 5-point favorite over the visiting Buffalo Bills (1-0) who trashed the Seahawks in their opener.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1) lost a close game on the road to the Saints in their opening week and will look to bounce back as 3-point favorites over the visiting Atlanta Falcons (1-0) who ran all over the Lions last Sunday.

Starting the year off with a blowout loss to the Bills wasn’t exactly in the plans and the Seattle Seahawks (0-1) will have to regroup as 6-5 favorites over the San Francisco 49ers (0-1) who were dropped by the Cardinals last week.

Kurt Warner managed to lead the Arizona Cardinals (1-0) past the 49ers in their opener and will look to do the same this week as they’ve been labeled a 6-point favorite over a Miami Dolphins (0-1) team that fell to the Jets in Week 1.

Brett Favre will look to keep the excitement alive with the New York Jets (1-0) who nipped the Dolphins in the opener and NY will be a 1-point favorite when they host the New England Patriots (1-0) who beat the Chiefs but lost Tom Brady for the year.

The Houston Texans (0-1) looked confused in their opening game loss to the Steelers yet they have been listed as a 4.5-point favorite over rookie quarterback Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens (1-0) who beat the Bengals in the opening week.

Despite losing their opening game to the Panthers and losing Shawne Merriman for the season the San Diego Chargers (0-1) enter week 2 as a 1-point favorite in their road game against the Denver Broncos (1-0) who pounded the Raiders on Monday night.

Ben Roethlisberger was nearly flawless in the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) opening season win against the Texans and that has made his team a 6.5-point favorite over the Cleveland Browns (0-1) who fell to the Cowboys last Sunday.

Tony Romo and Terrell Owens paced the Dallas Cowboys (1-0) past the Browns last weekend and are a 6.5-point favorite on Monday Night Football over Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) who demolished the Rams in their opener.
