The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will host the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday in one of college football's most storied rivalries. The game will be broadcasted on NBC at 3:30pm.
Over the past two seasons, both storied programs have suffered a decline from their previous greatness. Last season, Michigan opened the season with a shocking loss to FCS champion Appalachian State. The Wolverines ended the season 9-4 after ending the regular season ranked #2 the previous season.
Notre Dame had the worst record in recent history (3-9), setting several school records for the inequities. The team had the most losses in a single year (9); two of the ten worst losses ever (38-0 losses to both Michigan and USC); and the first six-game losing streak for home games. The Fighting Irish also lost to Navy for the first time in 44 games.
This season, the teams look to revamp their programs back to national prominence. With the highly-touted sophomore Jimmy Clausen at quarterback, ND will look for their pass offense to be effective for the win.
New UM head coach Rich Rodriguez will use the spread offense he mastered at West Virginia to open up the Irish defense.
