Allen Iverson Agrees to 2-Year Deal

Former NBA Great to Continue Career

Former NBA great Allen Iverson, whose future has been in question for months now, has agreed in principle to a 2-year, $40 million contract with Turkish professional basketball team Besiktas. According to Yahoo Sports, the former NBA MVP and 4-time NBA scoring leader is expected to ink the deal this week and report to the team next week.

Besiktas executive board member Seref Yalcin said on Monday that he will be visiting the U.S. to discuss the terms for a possible deal with the 11-time All-Star. Yalcin said that he plans to discuss a number of issues with Iverson, including potential schools in Istanbul for Iverson's children. "I think this transfer will take place," said Yalcin.

Iverson, now age 35, is a former NBA player who is widely regarded as one of the best players in NBA history. During his illustrious NBA career, he won 11 All-Star selections, 4 NBA scoring titles, an NBA Rookie of the Year title, and an NBA MVP title. He also led the Philadelphia 76ers to the NBA Finals.

Iverson was playing in the NBA as recently as March 2010, but he left the 76ers in March because of personal issues and never returned.
