Los Angeles Train Crash Kills at least 10, Dozens More Injured

At least 10 people were killed and dozens more injured in Los Angeles on Friday after a commuter train slammed head-on into a freight train in Chatsworth area of the San Fernando Valley late in the afternoon.

 

Several of the 222 passengers on the Metrolink train were trapped inside a steel mess and firefighters worked for more than four hours bring them to safety.

 

According to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa the death toll could reach 15-20 and the number of injured could exceed 100.

 

The Metrolink train had left Union Station in downtown LA and was headed to Moorpark in Ventura County when the crash occurred at 4:23 p.m.

 

There has been no release on what lead to both trains being on the same track.
