AK Steel Holding Corporation (NYSE:AKS) surged
1.22% to $20.45. The company swung to a third-quarter net loss from a
year-earlier profit on 51% higher net sales. The loss was $59.2 million, or 54
cents a share, compared with net income of $6.2 million, or 6 cents, in the year-earlier
period.
A
survey of analysts by FactSet Research produced consensus estimates of a loss
of 29 cents a share on $1.53 billion of revenue.
The
stock went down more than 42% year-to-date. At current market price, the market
capitalization of the company stands at $1.39 billion.
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (NYSE:RCL) soared
12.09% to $39.40. The company said Tuesday its third-quarter net income rose by
55% to $356.8 million, or $1.64 a share, from $230.4 million, or $1.07, in the
year-ago period. Revenue increased to $2.06 billion, from $1.76 billion.
Wall
Street analysts expected earnings of $1.57 a share and revenue of $2.03
billion, according to a survey by FactSet Research.
The
company expects fourth-quarter earnings of 8 cents a share to 12 cents a share,
after one-time costs of 5 cents a share for two incidents. Analysts expected
earnings of 15 cents a share for the quarter.
The
stock opened at $38.60 and made its fresh one-year high of $39.90. The stock
went up more than 54% year-to-date.
Valero Energy Corporation (NYSE:VLO) gained
0.45% to $17.85. The company said that it swung to a third-quarter profit of
$292 million, or 51 cents a share, from a loss of $629 million, or $1.12 a
share, in the year-ago period. Operating income rose to $571 million, versus an
operating loss of $238 million. Income from continuing operations totaled 52
cents a share.
Wall
Street analysts expected Valero to earn 50 cents a share, on revenue of $20.8
billion, according to a survey by FactSet Research.
The
stock went up more than 5% year-to-date.
