Miami Heat Forward Moves Team With Speech
“There’s only one way we’re going to be able to get this done, and the way is together,” said Haslem, who has been playing with the Heat since 2003.
“Today, what U said, his passion, his words, there was no need for a follow-up,” said LeBron James, a newcomer to the Heat family.
The most emotional part of Haslem's speech may have been his reference to his mother, who died this summer and with whom the NBA star shared a very close connection.
"The biggest message U-D said at the end,” said Dwyane Wade, who is considered to be the face of the Heat franchise, along with Haslem, “was his mother got the opportunity to see this team put together, but she never got the opportunity to see this team play.”
“It was honest truth,” said Heat forward Chris Bosh, another recent addition to the team. “This was somebody at their most honest point. Just the point he talked about it. Most people keep things like that to themselves because it’s too much to talk about.”
