Tim Lincecum to Start in Game 1 for Giants
2-time Cy Young Winner to Start in World Series Game
The Giants were considering going with Cain for Game 1, but Bochy believes Lincecum is well rested enough to start for the opener, despite having pitched relief on Saturday, when the Giants won the NLCS against the Philadelphia Phillies.
"We just kept things in order and let Timmy have the first one," Bochy said before the Giant's workout on Monday night. "Matt hasn't pitched in a while. He didn't have to pitch in that seventh game, so he's ready. [Jonathan Sanchez] just threw. Matt's one of our guys, too."
Cliff Lee will start for the Rangers in Game 1, so we will see the 2008 American League Cy Young Award Winner (Lee) face off against the 2008 and 2009 National League Cy Young winner (Lincecum).
"We're feeling good about it. We'll start it out with Timmy against Cliff," said Cain. "This is what we've all dreamed of doing."
Lincecum , 26, has yet to pitch against the Rangers.
