Michael Jackson's Thriller May Become A Feature Film

Plans are already in motion to make a "Thriller" film

Thriller fans will certainly be very excited to hear that there are now plans to take the late King of Pop’s ground –breaking music video and extend it into a feature film. In the years since Michael Jackson’s passing, people have been even more eager to experience his legacy through his music.

The new feature film would cost an estimated $50 million, and as GK Films told Deadline, it would “expand the song’s folklore.” Kenny Ortega who worked with Jackson on his “This Is It” film has been called upon to direct this new venture, and Jeremy Garelick, who notably penned “The Hangover”, has been pulled in to do the script for Thriller.

One important question remains however: who will play Michael’s character? There is as of yet no word on who would be cast in the film, and it’s still in the development stages, but those are some big shoes to fill.

In any case, the possibility of a Thriller film is still implicitly bound up in a question of rights and the Jackson estate. Although it seems to be making progress, it may as yet end up being just a possibility.
