In a storyline that has had more twists than most afternoon soap operas it now appears set in stone that Ohio State running back Chris “Beanie” Wells will not be playing Saturday night when his #5 Buckeyes take on the #1 USC Trojans in Pasadena at 8:00 p.m.
Wells went down with a toe injury in the Buckeyes first game of the season and sat out last week’s game against the Ohio Bobcats in hopes he could rehab the foot. After a less than impressive performance against Ohio the pressure was on for wells to return to face the Trojans and he was listed as probable for the game.
After a series of back-and-forths about his status Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel cleared the air late Friday stating Wells would be out of the line-up. Speaking to ESPN on Friday the Buckeyes head coach said “He worked so hard, but my job is to keep his best interests at heart.”
