AP Top 25 College Football Scores: Patrick Pinkney Late TD Toss Saves #14 East Carolina in Win Over Tulane

Patrick Pinkney completed 22/32 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns, the last TD a 24-yard strike to Jamar Bryant with 1:41 left in the game to lift the #14 East Carolina Pirates (3-0) past the Tulane Green Wave (0-2) 28-24 on Saturday.

East Carolina managed to overcome four turnovers and a determined Green Wave squad that held a 24-21 lead in the fourth quarter after Ross Thevenot kicked a 28-yard field goal.

With just under six minutes remaining in the game Pinkney opened the winning drive with a 27-yard pass to Darryl Freeney. Pinkney then picked up 14-yards with his feet and then hit Dwayne Harris on a 13-yard toss to put the Pirates on the Tulane 25-yard-line. After picking up the first down on a one-yard keeper Pinkney found Bryant on the 28-yarder that put the Pirates up 28-24.

East Carolina sealed the game on Tulane’s next possession when Kevin Moore was intercepted by Pierre Bell.

East Carolina will face N.C. State next week while Tulane will face Louisiana-Monroe.
