The #9 Auburn Tigers held the Mississippi State Bulldogs to just 116 total yards of offense and six first downs and Wes Byrum’s 35-yard field goal in the second quarter was all they would need in a 3-2 SEC victory on Saturday.
Despite outgaining the Bulldogs by nearly 200 yards the Tigers offense couldn’t punch the ball into the endzone, instead turning the ball over three times, missing two field goals and allowing safety on a holding penalty in the endzone.
None of that seemed to bother the Auburn defense though as they didn’t allow Mississippi State to convert a single third down, holding them to 0-14 in those situations and blanking them 0-3 on fourth down attempts.
Auburn will host #7 LSU next week while Miss. State travels to face Georgia Tech.
