Tina Fey Plays Sarah Palin on SNL

Saturday Night Live returned for another season last night. While eight-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps hosted, it was comedian Tina Fey’s performance that stole the show. Fey portrayed Republican vice president candidate Sarah Palin while her ‘Baby Mama’ co-star Amy Poehler played Democratic Senator Hilary Clinton.

The pair called the skit a “non-partisan message” focused on sexism issues that surrounds the presidential election. The parody, which pitted Fey and Poehler against each other, made fun of Palin’s views on foreign affairs and global warming.

“I can see Russia from my house!,” Fey said, making fun of Palin’s inexperience with international affairs, as Poehler’s Clinton bragged about her experience.  

As for global warming, Fey’s Palin said she believes it “is just God huggin’ us closer.”

Poehler also poked fun at Clinton’s apparent ambition to be the first woman president saying, “I didn’t want a woman to be President. I wanted to be President and I just happen to be a woman.”

She later told Fey’s Palin that she doesn’t “want to hear you compare your road to the While House to my road to the White House. I scratched and clawed through mud and barbed wire and you just glided in on a dog sled wearing your pageant sash and your Tina Fey glasses.”
