Darren McFadden showed why he was the fourth overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft as he collected 164 yards rushing and a touchdown, Sebastian Janikowski booted three field goals and the Oakland Raiders (1-1) defense collected five sacks and held the Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) offense to just 190 total yards, 30 on the ground, in a 23-8 win on Sunday.
Janikowski provided the only points of the first half with a pair of field goals in the opening quarter but McFadden provided some breathing room in the third quarter as he scored his first NFL touchdown on a 19-yard run.
The lead was pushed to 16-0 on Janikowski’s third field goal midway through the fourth quarter but the Chiefs cut their deficit in half when Tony Gonzalez caught a 2-yard TD pass from Tyler Thigpen with four minutes left in the game.
Oakland turned to its running game to seal the game and Michael Bush provided the nail in the coffin with a 32-yard TD run with under a minute left.
Oakland will take on Buffalo next week while Kansas City faces Atlanta.
