Peyton Manning overcame two interceptions and a 15-point deficit late in the third quarter to bring the Indianapolis Colts (1-1) even with the Minnesota Vikings (0-2) late in the fourth quarter and Adam Vinatieri kicked the game-winning field goal with eight seconds left for the 18-15 victory on Sunday afternoon.
The Vikings wasted an impressive day from Adrian Peterson who rushed for 160 yards and Ryan Longwell who kicked five field goals to provide a 15-0 lead.
Despite collecting just 25 yards rushing as a team it was a one-yard run from Joseph Addai that gave the Colts their first score with 1:29 left in the third quarter. The Indy defense continued to keep the Vikings offense out of the endzone and Manning rewarded them when he hit Reggie Wayne on a 32-yard toss and a two-point conversion tied the game at 15-15 with six minutes left in the game.
After forcing the Vikings to punt Manning once again marched the Colts down the field with less than a minute on the clock and gave Vinatieri a shot from 27-yards out and he split the uprights for the win.
Indianapolis will host Jacksonville next week while Minnesota host Carolina.
