NFL Scores Week 2: New England Patriots Kick Way to Road Win Over Brett Favre and NY Jets

All week long the talk was about the quarterback matchup of New England’s Matt Cassel and New York’s Brett Favre but in the end it was the Patriot (2-0) kicking game that overcame the Jets (1-1) in a 19-10 victory on Sunday.

Stephen Gostkowski was 4/4 on field goal attempts and Sammy Morris provided the only touchdown as the Patriots relied heavily on their defense and they answered the call.

Brett Favre brought the Jets to within 16-10 early in the fourth quarter after hooking up with Chansi Stuckey on a 2-yard TD pass but Gostkowski’s fourth field goal of the game with just over five minutes remaining in the game was enough to seal the win.

Cassel finished the game 16/23 for 165 yards while Favre threw for 181 yards and a TD but also threw an interception.

New England will host Miami next week while NY will face San Diego on Monday,
