NFL Scores Week 2: Denver Broncos Shock San Diego Chargers with Two-Point Conversion to Win Game

Jay Cutler was 36/50 passing for 350 yards and four touchdowns, Brandon Marshall had 18 receptions for 166 yards and a TD and the Denver Broncos (2-0) used a tremendous break late in the game that led to an Eddie Royal TD with 24 seconds left in the game and a shocking two-point conversion to beat the San Diego Chargers (0-2) 39-38 on Sunday.

The Broncos overcame 318 all-purpose yards totaled by Darren Sproles who scored on a 103-yard kickoff return and then Cutler was intercepted on the San Diego 9-yard-line he added a 66-yard touchdown reception late in the fourth quarter that gave the Chargers a 38-31 lead.

Instead of folding the tent Cutler came back after the interception and led the Broncos down the field, setting up a fortuitous whistle that saved the game for Denver. Having moved down to the SD one-yard-line with just over a minute left Cutler looked to have fumbled the ball and the Chargers recovered but a referee’s whistle blew the play dead and Denver kept the ball at the ten-yard-line.

Cutler then found Royal over the middle for a touchdown with 24 seconds left and instead of kicking an extra-point to force overtime the Broncos elected to go  for two and Cutler found Royal once more for the win.

Denver will face New Orleans next week while San Diego hosts the NY Jets on Monday Night Football
