New York Knicks open 2010-2011 season against Toronto Raptors
Knicks have rookie Landry Fields listed in starting line up
The new look New York Knicks start their season agains the Bosh-less Toronto Raptors tonight game time 7 p.m. e.s.t.
The starting 5 for the Knicks has only one player from last year listed on ESPN, that being Gallanari and at Small Forward the other four starters weren't even on the team last year. With the addition of Amare Stoudemire from Phoenix and Raymond Felton at the pint will definitely be strutting a new look. The Knicks are also going with the Russian center Mozgov who Coach D is hot on.
The bench for the Knicks will look stronger and be more athletic with Wilson Chandler a starter last year, Tony Douglas who can at least play some defense and has shown signs of being able to score. Will Eddy Curry see any playing time this year will be determined. Curry is in his last year of his current contract. The Knicks have shown indications that Donnie Walsh would like to package Curry up and send him out to the mile high city and bring back Melo.
With the Miami Heat garnishing most of the attention in the off season with the signing of LeBron James the Knicks have been able to fly under the radar even though they are in the basketball mecca New York City. With the Knicks bringing in so many new players in the off season if Mike D'Antoni can get these guys to play his offense and a little bit more defense then last year the Knicks may be looking at a winning season.
The key for the Knicks is they are longer this year up front which will help but the real factor will be if they all love to play defense. The Celtics have proven the past 4 years defense rules the east.
