Royal
Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (NYSE:RCL) closed at $40.23, up 14.45%
from its yesterday`s close. The company said its third-quarter net income rose
by 55% to $356.8 million, or $1.64 a share, from $230.4 million, or $1.07, in
the year-ago period.
Revenue increased to $2.06
billion, from $1.76 billion. Wall Street analysts expected earnings of $1.57 a
share and revenue of $2.03 billion. The company also announced that for fiscal
2010, earnings per share (EPS) expectation has been increased to $2.43 to
$2.47.
Over the past 52-week, the
stock had traded within the range of $18.95-$40.93. At today`s closing market
price, the market capitalization of the company stood at $8.65 billion.
Carnival
Corporation (NYSE:CCL) soared 6.37% to $43.08. Yesterday,
Barclays Capital upgraded the stock from Equal Weight to Overweight.
The stock opened at $41.71 and has a 52-week range of $28.71-$44.21.
In the past one month of trading sessions, the stock went up more than 14%.
Staples,
Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLS) dropped 2.10% to $20.56. The company expects
to report earnings of 38 cents to 40 cents a share and adjusted earnings of 39
cents to 41 cents a share in the third quarter, the office products company
said late Monday.
The company also forecast earnings of $1.20 to $1.24 a
share for 2010 and $1.50 to $1.60 a share in 2011. The company is scheduled to
release its quarterly results on Nov. 18 but will discuss its preliminary
performance with analysts on Tuesday.
The stock opened at $20.68
and was trading within the range of $19.87- $21.17. In the past one month of
trading sessions, the stock went down more than 1%.
CBS
Corporation (NYSE:CBS) went down 1.04% to $17.08. CBS
Corporation is a mass media company with operations in Entertainment, Cable
Networks, Publishing, Local Broadcasting and Outdoor segments. The
Entertainment segment consists of the CBS Television Network, CBS Television
Studios, CBS Studios International, CBS Television Distribution, CBS Films and
CBS Interactive.
Over the past 52-week, the stock had traded within the range of $11.40-$18.20 and is up more than 19% year-to-date.
