Allegheny Energy, Inc. (NYSE:AYE) dropped
0.86% to $23.03. The company said its third-quarter profit climbed to $115.1
million or 68 cents a share, from $77 million, or 45 cents a share, with
revenue climbing to $1.04 billion from $793.7 million.
Analysts
polled by FactSet expected earnings of 56 cents a share.
Over
the past 52-week, the stock had traded within the range of $18.97-$25.98. The
stock went down more than 3% year-to-date.
Comcast
Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) added 1.99% to $20.03. The company said
Wednesday that its third-quarter profit declined 8.2% on greater costs,
including expenses related to its proposed acquisition of a controlling stake
in NBC Universal. Comcast said it earned $867 million, or 31 cents a share,
compared with a profit of $944 million, or 33 cents a share, in the same quarter
last year.
According to a survey taken by FactSet Research, analysts
were expecting a profit of 31 cents a share on revenue of $9.53 billion.
The stock opened at $19.48 and has a 52-week range of $13.95-$20.56.
In the past one month of trading sessions, the stock went up more than 9%.
ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP)
went down 1.55% to $59.88. The company said Wednesday its third-quarter profit
doubled to $3.1 billion, or $2.05 a share, from $1.5 billion, or 97 cents a
share, in the year-ago period.
Wall
Street analysts expected the Houston oil fim to earn $1.45 a share, according
to a survey by FactSet Research.
The 52-week range of the stock is $46.63-$62.63. The stock is very close to its 52-week high of $62.63.
