Illinois Debuts New Research Center

Alton, Illinois is debuting a research center close to where the Mississippi River and Missouri River converge.  The center, which has been under construction since 2008, is supposed to be a nexus of research focused on studying large river systems.  The state hopes that the Confluence Field Station will bring researches from around the world to study the in the $23 million dollar station.  The state paid for the full cost of building the station and looks to see worldwide prominence as well as a boost in the local economy as visitors come to the 35,000 square foot building.
