Pharmaceutical Drugs- In Your Drinking Water

Narconon Drug Rehab GA warns that recent reports indicated that up to 46 million people in the United States may be exposed to pharmaceutical drugs-even though they may not be prescribed these or are not even sick.

A recent report from Associated Press indicated that since last March, the number of people affected by pharmaceutical residues in their drinking water jumped over 10%, from 41 million to 46 million people.

“It is bad enough that our adolescents are able to get high from drugs found in the medicine cabinet”, states Mary Rieser, Director of Narconon Drug Rehab GA. “Now, reports and testing shows the whole family may be exposed to pharmaceutical drugs in their drinking water, which cannot be healthy.”

According to Martha Mendoza, AP National Writer, “drug residues detected in water supplies are generally flushed into sewers and waterways through human excretion. Many of the pharmaceuticals are known to slip through sewage and drinking water treatment plants.”

While the detectable levels are extremely low, “Researchers are finding evidence that even extremely diluted concentrations of pharmaceutical residues can harm fish, frogs and other aquatic species in the wild and impair the workings of human cells in the laboratory.”

Of forty four municipal districts tested, thirty four show traces of pharmaceutical drugs, including nicotine substitutes, anti-convulsants, and tranquilizers.

“This does not bode well for families who do not filter their water,” comments Ms. Rieser. “Young bodies exposed to drugs can have their health impaired. Unfortunately, the propensity for doctors to prescribe medication being peddled by the big pharmaceuticals is contaminating the water we drink.”
