In one of the more highly anticipated battles in the early NFL season Tony Romo, Terrell Owens and the Dallas Cowboys (1-0) will host Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook and the Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) in a Monday Night Football matchup televised on ESPN at 8:30 p.m.
The Cowboys enter the game as a 6.5-point favorite after looking impressive in their road win last week against the Cleveland Browns. In that 28-10 victory Romo threw for 320 yards and a touchdown, that TD was hauled in by Owens who finished with 87 yards receiving.
The Cowboys also got impressive performances from Marion Barber who collected 80 yards on the ground and a pair of TDs while rookie Felix Jones rushed for 62 yards on nine carries and scored his first NFL touchdown.
Defensively the Cowboys looked solid as well as they held the Browns to just 205 yards of total offense.
As impressive as the Cowboys win was, there may not have been a more dominant performance in week one than the game put together by the Philadelphia Eagles. In that game Donovan McNabb threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns as a trio of Eagles receivers, Hank Baskett, Greg Lewis and DeSean Jackson, all had over 100 yards receiving in their 38-3 pounding of the Rams.
To balance the aerial assault the Eagles got 91 yards and a TD on the ground from Brian Westbrook.
Philly’s defense came to play as well as they limited the Rams offense to just 163 total yards and sacked Marc Bulger four times.
