Children Sign Drug-Free Pledge at County Fair

Children Educated On Drugs, Drug Addiction and Drug Abuse

Narconon Drug Rehab GA, in an effort to stem the rising tide of drug addiction, educated children at a local county fair.

"Our booth has information on illegal drugs, including heroin, marihuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine," comments Gordon Weinand, Public Relations for Narconon Drug Rehab GA. "We had a tremendous response from kids and parents.

"Studies have shown that parents who educate their children on the dangers of drug addiction have a happy drug free family. We want to help all to avoid the problems associated with addiction and drug abuse. The kids sign a pledge that they will be drug-free. The parents have been very enthusiastic about this."

The Pledge signed by the children reads:

"I pledge allegiance to myself and who I want to be,
'Cause I can make my dreams come true, if I believe in me.
I pledge to stay in school and learn the things I need to know,
To make the world a better place for kids like me to grow.
I pledge to keep my dreams alive and be all I can be.
I know I can, and that's because,
I pledge to stay...
Drug-free!"

“Over 800 kids signed the pledge, because Live Drug Free is a well received message universally” stated Mr. Weinand. "If the kids were too small to read, the parents read it to them, and then they signed, the best they could. There was no disagreement with this message here at the county fair. Everyone wants to have fun and drugs aren’t part of that.

By starting early in drug education efforts, we can avoid needless misery in families and communities in our city.”
