Barbra Streisand Headlining Big-Money Fundraiser for Barack Obama

Barbra Streisand will be headlining a big-money fundraiser for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama on Tuesday evening in Beverly Hills. The event is carrying a $28,500 price tag for the reception and dinner to be followed by an additional $2,500 charge to hear Streisand perform.

Obama is scheduled to travel to Los Angeles on Tuesday following his rally in Golden, Colorado.

Streisand threw her support behind Obama after backing Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primaries. The Oscar Award-winning singer/actress has been critical of Republican presidential nominee John McCain and his selection for vice president Sarah Palin.

Posting a message on her personal Web site Streisand stressed “I believe John McCain chose Gov. Palin because he truly believes that women who supported Hillary — an experienced, brilliant, lifelong public servant — would vote for him because his vice president has two X chromosomes," Streisand said. "McCain's selection of Gov. Palin is a transparent and irresponsible decision all in the name of trying to win this election.”
