Video: DeSean Jackson Makes "Bonehead" Play on Monday Night Football

Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson committed "one of the all-time bonehead plays" in a 42-39 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.

Jackson, a rookie wide receiver from Cal, caught a 61-yard touchdown pass as he outran the Cowboys' star defensive backs Roy Williams and Adam "Pacman" Jones.

However, right before he crossed the endzone, Jackson spiked the ball in a premature TD celebration that resulted in a fumble for the Eagles. He then began celebrating in the endzone, thinking that he scored.

Both teams believed it was a touchdown as the Eagles began celebrating. However, the referees called it a fumble on the 1-yard line as the play was called dead.

Due to the fumble, the play was 60-yard reception, which resulted in a 1-yard touchdown by Brian Westbrook on the very next play.

ESPN announcer Mike Tirico called Jackson's play "one of the all-time bonehead plays" during the Monday Night Football broadcast.

Ironically, this is not the first time Jackson has prematurely celebrated during a national spotlight game. As a high school All-American at Long Beach Poly H.S. in California, Jackson was steps away from a long touchdown during the 2005 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio on NBC.

After catching a long pass, Jackson was well on his way for a 53-yard touchdown when he dove from the 5-yard line and began celebrating in the endzone. However, he missed the end zone by 1-yard and was then flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Jackson made up for it by catching seven passes for 141 yards and was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the game.
