Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM) jumped
11.66% to $41.56. For the quarter ended Sept. 30, Broadcom reported net income
of $327 million, or 60 cents a share, compared with net income of $85 million,
or 16 cents a share, for the same period last year. Adjusted income was 74 cents
a share.
The
company announced that it increased the size of its previously announced
private offering of senior notes. Broadcom priced $300 million aggregate
principal amount of 1.500% senior notes due 2013 and $400 million aggregate
principal amount of 2.375% senior notes due 2015.
The
stock went down more than 30% year-to-date.
Nabors Industries Ltd. (NYSE:NBR) climbed
5.56% and closed at $20.52. Nabors Industries’ net loss from continuing
operations for the third quarter was $31.6 million or $0.11 per share, compared
to a profit of $53.6 million or $0.18 per share in the same quarter a year ago.
On
average, 23 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.23 per
share. Analysts’ estimates typically exclude special items.
