DeVry Inc. (NYSE:DV) jumped 7.04% to $45.75. For the quarter, net income attributable to the company was $73.6 million or $1.03 per share, compared to $54.7 million or $0.76 per share in the year-ago quarter.

On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.95 per share for the quarter on revenue of $520.29 million. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

FBR Capital reiterated an 'Outperform' rating on DeVry Inc. with price target lowered from $53 to $50.

The stock went down more than 20% year-to-date.

Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM) jumped 11.66% to $41.56. For the quarter ended Sept. 30, Broadcom reported net income of $327 million, or 60 cents a share, compared with net income of $85 million, or 16 cents a share, for the same period last year. Adjusted income was 74 cents a share.

The company announced that it increased the size of its previously announced private offering of senior notes. Broadcom priced $300 million aggregate principal amount of 1.500% senior notes due 2013 and $400 million aggregate principal amount of 2.375% senior notes due 2015.

The stock went down more than 30% year-to-date.

Nabors Industries Ltd. (NYSE:NBR) climbed 5.56% and closed at $20.52. Nabors Industries’ net loss from continuing operations for the third quarter was $31.6 million or $0.11 per share, compared to a profit of $53.6 million or $0.18 per share in the same quarter a year ago.

On average, 23 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.23 per share. Analysts’ estimates typically exclude special items.

The stock opened at $20.13 and was trading within the range of $19.15-$20.99.
