Mexican police say 15 people were gunned down Wednesday at a carwash in Tepic, the capital of Nayarit. Fernando Carvajal, the state’s public safety secretary, said men armed with assault rifles pulled up in three vehicles at the Gamboa carwash and opened fire.
Police found 15 people dead and 3 others injured. The victims included carwash employees and customers. Authorities believe a drug cartel is responsible for the massacre, but the motive is unclear.
Businesses and schools close to the Gamboa carwash were closed after the incident.
