The saga continues. After failing a drug test while on probation and being sent back to jail for 30 days only to have that order overturned by another judge within 24 hours, Linsday Lohan recently faced a judge again. The troubled actress, 24, wasn’t given more jail time, but was instead ordered back into treatment. The court ruled that she return to the Betty Ford Center and remain in treatment there until January 2011.
It would seem like cause for celebration since Lohan could have been returned to jail, but now she’s saying she can’t afford to stay at the pricey treatment center for such an extended time. The actress's probation report raises questions about how much longer she can stay at the facility. "She indicates she can not afford to continue to pay for the treatment program and she needs to work," says the report.
Lohan was requesting outpatient care as she completed a 30-day stay at Betty Ford that coincided with her court date. Instead, Superior Court Judge Elden Fox ordered her to remain at the inpatient treatment center through at least Jan. 3. A 90-day stay at Betty Ford typically runs about $53,000, and Lohan is insisting that is a hardship because she hasn’t been able to work during all of her legal troubles. Lohan was hoping to begin filming a movie scheduled to start in November, but the court didn’t seemed moved by her argument that she needs to get back to work.
