Texas Researach Facilities Receive $40 million
Grants are first of $216 million to be given by a local group
The Caner Prevention and Research Institute of Texas has given the first installment of a planned $216 million in donations. In total, 52 grants were issued for cancer research, totaling $40 million dollars. The University of Texas at Austin alone was given $500,000.
The Research Institute's goal is to support groundbreaking cancer research, drug development and cancer screening efforts and stipulates that all research must be done in state. Much of the research will take place in familiar places such as the University of Texas school system.
