Giants Take 3-1 Lead in World Series

Giants Just 1 Win Away From Title

On Sunday night, the San Francisco Giants took a 3-1 lead in the 2010 World Series by defeating the Texas Rangers 4-0 in Texas. Somewhat surprisingly, the Giants victory was largely owed to starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner and Buster Posey, two rookies -- great baseball players but rookies nonetheless. Posey even contributed a home run of his own.

Many viewers considered the star of Game 4 to be 21-year-old rookie Bumgarner, who allowed only three hits. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said, "I can't say enough about what he did." Bumgarner is now the fifth-youngest pitcher ever to start in a World Series.

Indeed, the Giants pitching lineup has been highly touted. ''It's certainly been pitching as advertised,'' said Texas manager Ron Washington. ''They've got good stuff. They've got velocity. They can spin the baseball. They can change speeds and they keep their defense engaged.''

On Monday, Giants star pitcher Tim Lincecum will face off against Cliff Lee of the Rangers in an attempt to deliver the Giants their first championship title since 1958.
