Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate, had her Yahoo! e-mail account hacked Wednesday as the documents were posted on WikiLeaks.
A summary accompanied the post on WikiLeaks, the website that publishes anonymous submissions and leaks of sensitive governmental, corporate, or religious documents.
According to the summary, a group named "Anonymous" gained access to U.S. Republican Party Vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin's Yahoo e-mail account gov.palin@yahoo.com and passed information to Wikileaks around midnight on Tuesday.
"Governor Palin has come under criticism for using private e-mail accounts to conduct government business and in the process avoid transparency laws," stated the post.
The summary lists five screenshots of Palin's Yahoo! Mail account, three text files with contact information and related data culled from the account, and two photos of Palin's family.
The documents on Wikileaks include an e-mail to Palin aide Ivy Frye and one from her husband Todd, who was at the center of her previous e-mail controversy. However, the e-mail that was hacked was gov.sarah@yahoo.com, another e-mail address.
The Wikileaks website, which is not related to Wikipedia, is located at http://www.wikileaks.org.
