Alcohol Found to be the Most Harmful of Drugs

Alcohol is an intimate part of our culture. Whether it is a dinner drink, a party or holiday festivities, alcohol is heavily consumed in our culture. The down side is a recent study from members of the Independent Scientific Committee on Drugs rated alcohol as being the most harmful of drugs, even more than heroin and crack cocaine.

Narconon East U.S. is a non-profit drug rehabilitation organization that runs several drug rehab centers in the eastern U.S. Alcoholics coming into their drug rehab centers are often in very bad shape both physically and mentally. Alcohol, as with other drugs, "burns up" or depletes the body of its vitamin and minerals reserves. This leads to depression and other factors often attributed to withdrawal as well as side effects.

The study reports that alcohol is almost twice as likely to be harmful to others. This is also seen in the drug rehab field. The alcoholic coming into Narconon often is the subject of driving under the influence (DUI) arrests and some have been abusive.

Fortunately, the Narconon program takes addicts of all types. The Narconon program has a unique method of handling drug addiction that results in a 70% success rate. Part of the Narconon program gets one to look at ones past actions and take responsibility for those actions.

Although, as Narconon explains, all drugs are poisons and it is difficult to rank one poison better than the rest, this study at least points up the true damaging effect alcohol has on the lives of others, as well as the addict himself.

The answer for a drug addict or alcoholic is to do the Narconon program. Doing the Narconon program results in a productive, responsible person who now has the answers on how to make responsible decisions in the future and whose cravings for drugs or alcohol have been eliminated. The Narconon graduate becomes a productive member of society.
