According to multiple reports, Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss has been officially placed on waivers by the Minnesota organization.
The Vikings decided to cut ties with Moss on Monday, after giving up a third-round draft choice to pick him up from the Patriots on October 6th. This comes after Sunday’s loss at New England, in which Moss only garnered one catch for 8 yards. In his post-game comments, he criticized the Vikings’ coaches for not listening to his game advice on how to defend against the Patriots. More interestingly, he also said he missed playing with his former team.
Coach Childress informed his team in a Monday meeting that Moss would be leaving, but the paperwork wasn’t completed until today. Vikings owner Zygi Wilf is said to be angry at how Monday's events unfolded regarding Moss.
A team can claim Moss and pick up the final year of a contract that pays him $6.4 million in base salary. The Bills have first pick at Moss, followed by Carolina and Dallas. If he goes unclaimed, the Vikings owe Moss the remaining $3.388 million on his deal. He'd then be available for around $450,000 and could choose which team he wants to join.
Several teams are said to have shown interest in acquiring the outspoken wide receiver including Washington Redskins, Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, and even the Patriots.
