One day after 16 people were killed during an attack on the U.S. embassy in Yemen investigators have arrested more than two dozen suspected militants.
U.S. and Yemeni officials have said the attack mirrored other attacks launched by al-Qaeda.
On Thursday investigators from both countries worked together to arrest at least 25 suspected militants in various areas of Yemen. The act of rounding up suspected militants following an attack is common in Yemen as investigators try to determine guilt.
On Wednesday a car bomb exploded at the front gate of the U.S. embassy in Sanaa while workers were arriving, after the blast several attackers opened fire on the guards at the gate. In the end six guards and four civilians were killed as were six of the attackers.
The Islamic Jihad in Yemen has claimed responsibility for the attack but that has not been substantiated by investigators.
