Serbia Earthquake Leaves 100 Injured

An earthquake struck central Serbia overnight, leaving many residents in the city of Kraljevo without power or water. The Ministry of Internal Affairs said 2 people were killed and 100 others injured. According to reports, the two victims were an elderly couple who were sleeping in their home when it was destroyed.

The 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck at 1:56 a.m. about 80 miles south of the Serbian capital, Belgrade, and about 6 miles from Kraljevo. Many homes and other buildings were completely destroyed while others were only slightly damaged. A hospital in Kraljevo was damaged but there were no injuries.
