Randy Moss Waiver Deadline
With plenty of teams showing interest, the Tennessee Titans walk away with the prize
After NFL receiver Randy Moss's very public dismissal from the Minnesota Vikings earlier this week, many fans were wondering what team would claim him off the waiver wire. Any team was eligible to submit a claim, and the team with the worst record would then have the right to his contract.
Many teams were considered as possible landing spots, from the Raiders, who have scored 97 points in their last two games, to the Jets, who may have been looking to block Moss's return to the New England Patriots. Acquiring Moss, however, has proved to be a risky decision. It is no secret that Randy plays when Randy wants to. If he is unhappy in a situation, he will jog during games, fail to block and not give the effort that has made him a six time Pro-Bowler.
These concerns proved to be too much some teams. The injury ravaged Rams (said to be considering putting in a claim) likely did not want to take the chance that a temperamental Moss slows the development of rookie quarterback Sam Bradford.
By acquiring Moss the Tennessee Titans have taken on the rest of the contract that he is owed for the year. They also get an instant contributor after a key receiver, Kenny Britt, was forced out with injury in their last game.
